The 2017 Q5 SUV, when equipped with available adaptive cruise control and xenon headlights (3.0T Prestige models only), earned a Top Safety Pick+ for the second consecutive year, as did the 2017 A4 sedan, when it has available LED headlights with high beam assist (2.0T Prestige models only).

The 2017 A3 sedan, 2017 A6 sedan and 2017 Q7 SUV all were named Top Safety Picks when equipped with the available driver assistance package.

To earn a Top Safety Pick designation, a vehicle must receive a “good” rating in the small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side roof strength and head restraint tests, while also earning a “advanced” or “superior” rating for front crash prevention with standard or optional automatic braking. A new requirement for 2017 dictates that vehicles must also earn a rating of at least “acceptable” for headlight visibility and illumination in order to be named a Top Safety Pick+.
