Your Check Engine Light: When to be Worried

Ah, the dreaded check engine light -- the bane of our existence. Or is it?

Although it is the bearer of bad news, it does have a silver lining. Its very job is to prevent any further damage from wreaking havoc on your ride. Otherwise, you wouldn't know if anything was wrong and that's just not good. Just be sure not to confuse your service engine light with your check engine light. The service light is simply a reminder that your next oil change is due. If it is your check engine light, then one thing is certain, it needs to be taken care of as soon as you can. Especially if it's blinking, which is an indicator of a much bigger problem. You can check it yourself if you have a code reader, otherwise you should run you ride into a mechanic ASAP to avoid an even bigger problem later on.
